Dal tikki

Ingredients:

Gram dal: 1 cup (soaked for 4-5 hours)

Potatoes: 2 (boiled and mashed)

Onion: 1 medium (finely chopped)

Green Chillies: 2-3 (finely chopped)

Coriander: 2 tbsp (finely chopped)

Mint: 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)

Red Chilli Powder: 1 teaspoon

Turmeric: 1/2 teaspoon

Salt: As per taste

Cumin powder: 1 teaspoon

Garam Masala: 1/2 tsp

Chaat masala: 1 teaspoon

Breadcrumbs: 1 cup (or as needed)

Oil: For frying

 Recipe:

1. Boil the lentils:

Boil the soaked dal in 1 cup of water until the dal becomes soft and the water dries up.

Grind the dal well and make a thick paste.

2. Mix the lentils and potatoes:

In a large bowl, add the mashed potatoes, ground lentils, onions, green chilies, coriander, and mint.

Add salt, red chili powder, turmeric, cumin powder, garam masala, and chaat masala and mix well.

3. Make Tiki:

Make small balls out of the prepared mixture and press them lightly with your hands to form tiki.

If the mixture is soft, add breadcrumbs to make the tikki firm.

4. Coating and Frying:

Roll each tikki in breadcrumbs to make it crisp.

Heat oil in a wok and fry the tikkis on medium heat until golden and crispy.

When one side turns golden brown, flip the tikki and let the other side turn golden too.

5. Serve:

Dal Karare Tiki is ready.  Serve them with chutney or ketchup.
